Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 30, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what Wren stores, what limited data is shared with third-party services, and how we handle information when you use the app.
1. Information We Collect
Wren is designed to be local-first. The information involved in your use of the app can include:
- Local Project Data: Projects, tasks, lists, notes, deliverables, and resources you create in Wren.
- Photos and Files You Choose to Add: Images, PDFs, and other files you attach to projects, mood boards, or resources.
- Wren Cloud Account Information: If you choose to create or connect a Wren Cloud account, we process your email address, account identifier, sign-in provider, workspace membership, and the information needed to keep you signed in securely.
- Synced Project Data: If you choose to use Wren Cloud, the projects, lists, notes, schedules, contacts, photos, files, mood boards, and other project information you sync are stored on our cloud service so they can be available on your signed-in devices and the Wren website.
- Notification Information: If you enable notifications while signed in, Wren may store a device push token and basic app/device information needed to deliver Wren notifications.
- Usage Analytics: We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect app usage events, screen views, feature usage, and subscription funnel events so we can improve the app.
- Subscription Analytics: We use Adapty to measure subscription lifecycle events such as trials, purchases, renewals, cancellations, and restores.
- Technical/App Information: Device type, app version, operating system version, and similar app diagnostics or usage metadata provided through Firebase Analytics.
- Purchase Information: Subscription product, purchase, renewal, and restore events processed through Apple and StoreKit; related subscription events may also be sent to Adapty and Firebase Analytics.
- Optional Support Emails: If you contact us using the in-app feedback flow, your email message and basic app/device details included in that email.
2. How We Use Information
- To save and display your projects and files on your device
- To create and secure your optional Wren Cloud account
- To sync the project information you choose across your signed-in devices and the Wren website
- To deliver notifications you choose to enable
- To enable optional purchases and subscription restoration through Apple
- To understand which screens and features are being used so we can improve Wren
- To measure trial starts, paid subscriptions, renewals, restores, and related subscription lifecycle events
- To respond if you contact us for support or feedback
3. How We Store Your Data
- Local Storage: Your project content, client details, notes, photos, and imported files are stored locally on your device.
- Optional Wren Cloud Storage: Wren remains usable without a cloud account. If you sign in and choose to sync projects, the selected project content and files are stored using Supabase-hosted authentication, database, and file-storage services.
- Secure Sessions: Wren Cloud session credentials are stored in Apple's Keychain on supported devices.
- Device Protections: We rely on iOS and macOS sandboxing and device storage protections to help keep local data isolated from other apps.
4. Information We Do Not Use for Analytics
We do not use the contents of your projects for analytics. That means we do not intentionally send the following through our analytics events:
- Project names
- Note text
- Client names, addresses, or contact details
- The contents of photos, PDFs, or other project files
- Your precise location
- Passwords or sensitive authentication information
5. Third-Party Services
Wren may integrate with:
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Google): For app usage analytics, screen views, feature usage, and subscription conversion measurement.
- Adapty: For subscription analytics, subscription event tracking, and optional billing-related integrations or notifications.
- Supabase: For optional Wren Cloud account authentication, project sync, database storage, and file storage.
- Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In: For account authentication when you choose one of those sign-in methods.
- App Store / StoreKit (Apple): For subscription purchases, renewals, restores, and review prompts.
- Photos and Camera (Apple): For adding existing images or capturing new ones inside the app.
- Files (Apple): For importing documents and files you choose to attach.
- MessageUI / Mail app (Apple): For sending support or feedback emails if you choose to contact us.
We do not use analytics for cross-app advertising tracking, and we do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.
6. Permissions We Request
- Photos Access: To let you choose images for projects and mood boards
- Camera Access: To capture photos directly in the app
- File Access: To import documents and project files you choose
- Location Access: To calculate sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour, weather, and live sun direction for locations you choose
- Notifications: To deliver Wren reminders or updates you choose to enable
You can revoke system permissions in iOS or macOS Settings at any time.
7. Data Security
We protect your data through:
- iOS and macOS built-in app sandboxing
- Device and app storage protections
- Local-first storage, with cloud sync remaining optional
- Row-level access controls and authenticated file access for Wren Cloud data
- Apple Keychain storage for Wren Cloud sessions on supported devices
- Regular security updates through app updates
8. Children's Privacy
Wren is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
- Local Data: Remains on your device until you delete the app or manually delete projects
- Wren Cloud Data: Remains in your Wren Cloud account until you delete synced projects or request deletion of your Wren Cloud account
- Analytics: Usage analytics data is handled by Google Analytics for Firebase and retained according to our configuration and Google's policies
- Subscription Analytics: Subscription event data handled by Adapty is retained according to our configuration and Adapty's policies
- Purchases: Subscription and transaction records are handled by Apple under Apple's systems and policies
- App Deletion: Deleting the app removes local app data from that device (subject to device backups), but does not by itself delete data in an optional Wren Cloud account
- Account Deletion: You can initiate deletion from Cloud Sync settings while signed in. We will delete the Wren Cloud account and associated synced data within 7 days, except records we must retain for legal, fraud-prevention, security, or accounting purposes. Apple manages App Store transaction records and subscriptions separately.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the local and synced project data available through your Wren account
- Delete local projects and initiate deletion of your Wren Cloud account from Cloud Sync settings
- Control which permissions the app has access to
- Contact us with privacy questions using the support options provided in the app
11. Wren Cloud Choices
Wren is local-first and does not require a Wren Cloud account for core on-device use. Cloud sync begins only after you choose to sign in and sync or import projects. Signing out stops the current device from accessing Wren Cloud, but it does not delete the cloud account or its synced data. Account deletion can be initiated separately from Cloud Sync settings.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app, the App Store listing, or our website. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect means the updated policy applies.
13. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at contact@tellthebirds.com or through the support options in the app.
